A song about kids growing up in Glasgow

I moved back to Scotland a year ago and I wrote this song in dedication to all the interesting characters I see every day in and around Glasgow. In Glasgow its not the done thing to show emotion, especially for blokes, so you have little opportunity to express sympathy for folk. Its the story of a young boy growing up, in the west coast of Scotland and some of the daft things he gets up to. The words in the verse are based on some of the things I witnessed growing up in Scotland.
William grew up to the sound of the Drum Chapel pipe band Gallus at school He kissed girls under parkas For cigarettes Dry your eyes Glaswegian Lullaby There's not time for sentimentality Come here Dry your eyes Had friends with the wrong foot But it only matters on Saturdays Lost his night bus fare home Took a traffic cone home as a souvenir Dry your eyes Glaswegian Lullaby There's not time for sentimentality Come here Dry your eyes Fights in the street With his fists and his feet There's no way back home now Running and running and running away There's no way back home now Cross Glasgow Green to a safe house you've seen There's no way back home Back home We're coming home Fights in the street With his fists and his feet There's no way back home now Running and running and running away There's no way back home now Cross Glasgow Green to a safe house you've seen There's no way back home Back home We're going home x
