DANISH SUMMER
As I watch the sun go down on
Yet another danish summer
I wonder when this run of luck
Will leave me feeling less short changed
I see a future shining brightly but for now it’s lurking
Suspended there just out of range
But in the end it’s just another song
By which my fortune will be told
When I am grey

So for now I’ll try to get myself a shiny new perspective
A cleaner simpler way to live

Judge not the poor man by the measure of his references

Judge not the priest by all his dark and sombre blustering
Judge not the prophet by his torn and tattered robes
I sit and watch the sun

On all that once stood out so true so strong
On noble words akin to openness
Akin to tolerance
Where have those values
Those brave ideals
Where have they gone
In the end it’s just another not so fairy tale
By which our shady fortune will be told
Under the rug
Under the rug we sweep the remnants of our welfare
Pretty soon we’ll have forgotten how to care
I think we need to freshen up and shake the dust from our perspective
Reclaim a simple purer way to live our lives
