I collaborated on this song with a friend who was writing a musical. We were talking about writing music one night and I mentioned I had music with no lyrics and he said he had lyrics with no music. We thought we might get together and see if anything matched. John played a recording of the original version of this song and said he didn't like it as it was. I took it home and reworked it. I sped up the tempo and changed a few of the words and phrases. Then in the studio, we added the additional orchestration to beef up the sound.
