I traveled back in time to Philly, circa 1972, and stole this song from Sigma Sounds Studios...or was it off the air from WFIL-AM, Boss radio? If you like Motown and Philly Soul, you'll either dig or be offended. This is probably more Gamble and Huff and Thom Bell and Linda Creed, vs. Holland-Dozier-Holland. Think Spinners, O'Jays, Delfonics, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, etc. Right on, man!

Piano, keys, vocals: David Nyro
Drums: Sean Lane
Bass: Marc Miller
Engineer: Jakael Tristram
Producers: David Nyro and Jakael Tristram
Inspiration: Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff
Recorded at London Bridge Studios, 2016

Rarely, rarely do I ever sit down at the piano, where I do most of my songwriting, and think: "Let's write a Philly soul song!" These songs just come out! For example, the other week, I wrote an ABBA song. Am I big fan of ABBA? Not so much. Do you think I set out to write an ABBA song? Not so much. But, for whatever reason, I now have an ABBA drinking song. Oh, you will hear it eventually. We're recording them all eventually. 30 down, 412 to go...(And new ones popping out weekly...)
Never Saw a Woman Before
© 2016 by David Nyro

Never saw a woman before I saw you
Never saw a woman before I saw you Ooo oooo

Some have come and some have gone
Left a mark and then moved on
Some brought the dark and some the sun
I was blinded and I was dumb

But I never saw a woman before I saw you
Woman, I never knew
Never knew a woman before I knew you
It’s true, so true, so I never
saw a woman before
I saw you. Ooooo Oooooo
I just never knew No, not even a clue
Oooo Ooooo

There were those who had it made,
Had all the parts, parts well-played
I was wooed and I was swayed
But in the end, it was just a masquerade

But I never saw a woman before I saw you
Woman, I never knew
Never knew a woman before I knew you
It’s true, so true, so true Ooo Ooooo

I was wooed and I was swayed
But in the end, it was just a masquerade

But I never saw a woman before I saw you
Woman, I never knew
Never knew a woman before I knew you
It’s true, Oooo Oooooo Ooo oooo
Never saw a woman before I saw you.
I never saw a woman before I saw you.
Never saw a woman
I never saw a woman before I saw you.
Never saw a woman x

good uns
well you scored points with me cause you know who Linda Creed is. This is a nice 1974 soul song, I'd like to see you try a 1971 one, for slow dancin'.

David, your versatility is incredible! No one will EVER be able to pigeon-hole you. I was born in '50, a teen in the 60's, and a young adult in the 70's, so of course I grew up with and loved MOTOWN too! I'd love to see a video of you guys doing the choreography of the Temptations or the Four Tops to this song! :-)
