"Cherries for Cosmo" is a conversation between two people, one of whom lost their significant other in a tragedy many years ago. Due to some mysterious magical event, however, his wife was recently brought back to life. As the song plays out, someone talks with him as he reflects on what has happened and tries to contain his shock and excitement. He's trying to carry on doing normal things - picking cherries in the garden - but he eventually breaks down and runs back inside to be with the love of his life again.

I see him in the garden
With a light in his eyes
Old basket on his arm
Don't drop it - I say

He turns to me as he falls from his thoughts
Oh, sorry
I was just thinking about the old times again
And how they gave me a second chance

Now he's out by the old tree
Up by the hollow
Picking some lovely
Cherries for cosmo
No, I don't even
know if she likes them
But I don't care, he said
I don't care, he said

He reaches out with a hand
and puts a finger on the stem
He falters
and smiles

I admire his restraint
'Cause if that were me in there
I'd hold her tight and not let go
Not even if the good Lord told me so

He's out by the old tree
Up by the hollow
Picking some lovely
Cherries for cosmo
No, I don't even
know if she likes them
But I don't care, he said
I don't care, he said

I'm just glad, I'm so glad she's back
I never dared to dream
I'm just glad, I'm so glad she's back
I never dared to dream

And why would you?
Who would dare think such things
When life has been so cruel
to the kind

He's headed back inside
I know he's trying to stay calm
But he breaks into a run - I see him

He's out by the old tree
Up by the hollow
Picking some lovely
Cherries for cosmo
No, I don't even
know if she likes them
But I don't care, he said
I don't care, he said

I'm just glad, I'm so glad she's back
I never dared to dream
I'm just glad, I'm so glad she's back
I never dared to dream x
