New version of a song about a teen runaway that I played with my band in the early 90s and had recorded around 2008. This is a new recording in 2019.
This song was inspired and based on a true story of a girl I knew when I was a teenager. Her name was Lisa, and she never did come back home. I do hope she turned her life around for the better, and is listening to this song today. : ) ~~JD

Standing On A Corner
words and music by Jayson Dyall c.1990

Little child, hungry and cold
On the streets and all alone
Nowhere to go, sleeps in empty buildings
Only fifteen, she ran away from home
And she's all alone, Yes she's all alone

Big city life, glamorous dreams
All shot down in one single day
Now all she has is her body to sell
She can't get home, so she has to stay
And she's all alone, Yes she's all alone

And she's Standing On A Corner in the dead of night
What a price to pay just to stay alive
Standing On A Corner in the dark city's night
Selling herself in order to survive
And she's all alone, Yes she's all alone
The girl is all alone
She's just a baby, she's just a baby

Short Break

She don't use drugs but wonders "why not?"
To ease the pains of the night ahead
Some nights it ends with bruises and tears
And on some nights, she wish she were dead
And she's all alone, Yes she's all alone

And she's Standing On A Corner in the dead of night
What a price to pay just to stay alive
Standing On A Corner in the dark city's night
Selling herself in order to survive
And she's all alone, Yes she's all alone
The girl is all alone
She's just a baby, she's just a baby

Sometimes she thinks of her childhood years
Biting her lips, fights back the tears
So afraid to get on the phone
"Mom and Dad, I want to come back home"

Little child, hungry and cold
On the streets and on her own
Nowhere to go, sleeps in empty buildings
Only fifteen, she ran away from home

And she's Standing On A Corner in the dead of night
What a price to pay just to stay alive
Standing On A Corner in the dark city's night
Selling herself in order to survive

Yes she's Standing On A Corner in the dead of night
What a price to pay just to stay alive
Standing On A Corner in the dark city's night
Selling herself in order to survive
And she's all alone, Yes she's all alone
The girl is all alone
She's just a baby, she's just a baby.....
