Many years ago when I was living in Boston, thousands of used needles washed up on shore of a town just outside Boston... The needles had come from a medical facility. It hadn't been long since public awareness of HIV and AIDS and this crisis was, as you might guess, extremely disconcerting.

Produced by Peter Kearns, Marty Rifkin and Carrie Wade

I can't hear the words through this fear
I can't see your face though you're there
Truly this song cannot change what went wrong
I am well aware

Did you see it in your dreams?
Or by the way that one behaves?
Was the future in the lines of your hand, oh?
Needles in the waves

Did you ever think that this could be
part of a plague, racing through the sea?
Once thought of as remote, you can watch a country choke,
see a building bleed

Did you see it in your dreams, oh
or by the way that one behaves?
Was the future in the lines of your hand, oh?
Needles in the waves

Instrumental

Little children bathing in the blue
It's been the beginning of land's end and we knew
but the sea was to remain and I could go insane
What, oh what to do?

Did you see it in your dreams, oh
or by the way that one behaves?
Was the future in the lines of your hand, oh?
Needles in the waves

Now, did you see it in your dreams, oh
or by the way that one behaves?
Was the future in the lines of your hand
Ohhhhh, no
Ohhhhh, no
Ohhhhh, no x

LEGENDARY MUSIC
Sometimes, for whatever the reason, the longer we have to wait to be able to do the things that we want to do the better and the sweeter is the result. Such is the case with finding some time in my busy, and getting busier, life to come for a quiet visit tonight to Carrie's page and have a listen to "Needles in the Waves". Where do I begin? How about I start with the great title ... the picture that it paints in the mind is both subtle and perfect for the lyrics and music that follows. And right from the get-go, the hypnotic spellbinding feeling and sound of waves that has been so effectively produced here slish-sloshing incessantly back and forth sets the poignant mood for this great song of yours Carrie. And notwithstanding the sombre message in your lyrics, I'm lulled into closing my eyes as I feel myself rolling and swaying to the endless motion of the sea, surrounded with this magnificently produced and arranged music and your haunting, beautiful vocals Carrie riding every wave, washing every word in your so very well-crafted lyrics onto the shore along with those needles left begging and crying out for some reason, some understanding, and some hope if there is any yet that remains. You have a diamond in this song gal, shining like the sea itself in sparkling moonlight. Only time will tell how many more gems like this you will create girl, but my guess is that this will be hard to top. Still, with your incredible talent rising to new levels with this song Carrie, you won't surprise me if you do. In my book, unquestionably, "Needles in the Waves" is Legendary Music. Rascal is sound asleep but I know he agrees. Congratulations too on the song hitting the KIAC BIG 50 ... a most well-deserved honour.

Back to the Shack
Thanks Carrie, Great Tune. Truth is in the Music we write. It is like the Relfections of our spirit whether it is bright or dark, it ripples like water from our soul and washes through humanity and any who will listen. Music is Truth (from "the spirit speaks" unpublished)Bryon Tosoff

I think in another life Carrie was my Sister, why not dream. A true artist and friend.
