I was watching a documentary late one night about an overworked under supplied emergency department in Syria, when score of burned children started to arrive following the fire bombing of a school.

Leaders of the world Have you seen the school ground We scorched the earth, where they played Turned pages to ashes War landed on a merry-go-round Leaders of the world Have you heard the children scream? From fear and pain their skin aflame Like melted plastic wrap Why did we burn their dream? How can we close our eyes and sleep While we can hear the children weep While we can see their tears flow Turning red with every blow With two ears plugged and two eyes shut We can still hear the children scream We can still see their tears stream How can we sleep a peaceful sleep This mountain is too steep Leaders of the world Please tell us that we have learned That schools are not for us to burn That a child is sacred kind Or all our words are just pretend How can we close our eyes and sleep While we can hear the children weep While we can see their tears flow Turning red with every blow With two ears plugged and two eyes shut We can still hear the children scream We can still see their tears stream How can we sleep a peaceful sleep This mountain is too steep x
