April 29th is "National Dance Day" I chose this one as it was influenced by the writings of Carlos Castaneda and Shamanism (spiritual ritual dance) Dance has always been a great way to communicate your feelings without words, rhythm is borne in us... from the beating heart of life to the casting off of inhibitions. Dancing has expanded in so many directions now from Ballet to Ballroom to Hip Hop but despite our protestations we must do it. There is some very pleasant guitar work woven into this fine production. Feel inspired to "rise up and dance" on this recognized anniversary.

April 27th is "National Tell a Story Day" I'm so glad that Kris has a song that fits the topic because she is such a talented lady with a very engaging vocal sound and she plays so well too. I think most of the best songs are the ones that tell a story - we start with bedtime stories and fairy stories and progress to stories that express feelings and emotions, poetry, history, philosophy... actually, most of these elements were there in those early tales without us realizing. This artist has a page full of stories all beautifully told.

I'm sure secretaries would be only too happy to "take something down" for this guy :)

April 23rd is "NATIONAL TAKE A CHANCE DAY" - so I'm taking a chance that everyone will love this happy-go-lucky Country song... and it's a pretty safe bet! Nice little anecdote about a guy who fancies his chances with this a gal - unfortunately her punchy response is "You got a better chance of seeing Elvis... " Great vocal, great lyrics and plenty of attitude make this a winner for me.

April 18th is "National Poem In Your Pocket Day" A strange idea but a way to popularize poetry. Maybe we all have a poem learned at school to share or perhaps, like Cassandra here, poetry has become a great form of expression and communication of ideas. Coincidentally this piece is called 'Pockets' The recital is cleverly built into appealing music. It's not long but quite intense. I'm glad this was available to add to my daily Song Quest.

April 16th is National "Wear your pajamas to work" Day. I thought this lovely little song fitted the bill in a way because pajamas are as casual as you can get. Apparently it's something Americans do the day after Tax Day to celebrate :) But the song has great lyrics and is quite different from anything I've heard lately, nice one Rosie!

April 6th is "Sorry Charlie" Day. It's believed to refer to the Tuna Fish who got rejected in a 1970s US commercial because he wasn't good enough. The day is now celebrated by thinking back to all your personal rejections and what you learned from them. Everyone has a bit of Charlie in their history and character. This is a fantastically original song by Happy Rhodes, maybe an acquired taste however, just like Charlie the tuna :)

April 4th is 'National School Librarian Day'... I'm marking it by adding this 'book' related song. I noticed it had been reviewed by our Verity a while back so I'm pasting part of her excellent summary once again "... You'll never hear another song quite like this, it comes and goes, in and out, short and long, up and down then it settles and finds solid ground as the Rock kicks in. It's a very interesting arrangement, with angelic ambiance mingling alongside a pretty, tapping percussive melody. The vocal sits well, it's natural and has a poignant clarity. April 2nd 2019 is Worldwide Autism Awareness Day. I chose this sensitive instrumental track featuring lovely guitar work to represent the day. Autism is a complicated disorder on a wide spectrum that effects many people and their families. Many autistic children become very skilled, especially in music and the arts but may have problems integrating and communicating. "A different nature" is a lovely way to describe autism and closely related conditions.
