In June of 2002, brothers Len and Andrew had gone to see a favorite band, the Tarbox Ramblers, at the famed Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, MA and happened to arrive early enough to see an unknown opening band called the Old Crow Medicine Show. To their surprise and extreme pleasure, the Old Crows turned out to be nothing short of phenomenal. The brothers were utterly and completely blown away by the Old Crows energy, enthusiasm, and great old-time music. Right then and there, both knew they wanted to play in a string band. With only a year of musical experience under their belts at that time, both would have a way to go before the dream was to be realized.
Several years and many lessons and late night pickin' sessions later, Andrew and Len were playing together regularly when a friend introduced them to acoustic guitarist, Jared Libby. Jared's Grateful Dead and jazz influenced folk guitar backed up by a degree in music from Hampshire College and 12 years of playing experience made him the perfect fit. The trio has been playing together ever since, and began gigging in the Summer of 2005, receiving rave reviews and delighting audiences across Western Massachusetts.
Most recently, the band has been joined by upright bassist, Eric Colbeck and begun recording their first album, due for release in late spring of 2006. It is with no small degree of pleasure that the band will be returning to the Iron Horse on June 22, 2006 with instruments in hand to play in the same hall where the dream began four years earlier. So, if you're in town on June 22, 2006, stop on by!
