Bryson VanCleve's musical roots date back to 1998 as a teenager who formed a band in Little Rock, Arkansas called Wake the Dawn. Wake the Dawn recorded two full albums and several EP's/demos with VanCleve at the helm singing, playing lead guitar and writing most of the music and lyrics. After seven years of touring the south and finding that several Wake members had gotten burned out, it was inevitable that VanCleve move on as a solo artist. In February of 2005 he uprooted from his home in central Arkansas and moved to Los Angeles to further his career. Being the “big fish” in Little Rock with 500 plus paying fans at every show, and starting all over in Los Angeles without actually knowing a single soul, proved to be grueling on the young singer/songwriter for the first eight months. Out of the rejection of his closest friends from home and depression from the big city, his greatest works were born. During that time he composed his debut solo record entitled “Basics of Insanity” which was a name that described his journey in the music business of “doing something repeatedly for a long period of time, while continuing to expect different and better results”. The album was released in December 2005 and quickly gained interest from music industry representatives such as David Lauser (Sammy Hagar’s 30 plus year drummer), Joey Shaw (Paramount Pictures Producer) and various online indie sites such as the critically acclaimed garageband.com where he received numerous awards including #2 pop/rock vocalist of all-time with the single “We Carry On”.
VanCleve continues to reside in L.A. now while working with his long time Wake the Dawn drummer Brad Neal, and his new friend and guitarist Joe Enich, who has been on the long hard road of music as long as Bryson. Currently an acoustic album is being recorded for a second indie release, which will be followed by VanCleve’s third solo album “We Live in the Gray” in late 2006.
