Bought an old Elvis record from a kid down the street for a dime ...think I got my money's worth outta that. Got some early Beatles albums from a kid up the street for going & buying him smokes...he'd get a pack o' Winstons, I'd get MEET THE BEATLES. First 10 LP's I owned were them. My brother hated the Beatles at the time coz of me.
Been pretty much fixated on music my whole life. I'm in a band that's learning Rascal Flatts and Billie Joel tunes for a special show...listen to these tunes and wonder how in the hell the same dude would also be singing "Tell Her About It". I did manage to work "She Loves You" into the songlist.
I'd say everything I ever got into musically was an influence. Besides a buncha singles by late 60's pop bands (anybody else think "I Had Too Much To Dream" by the Electric Prunes was about as good as it gets?), I bought a lotta LP's by Badfinger, solo Beatles, Steely Dan, The Guess Who, Roxy Music, 10cc, Godley & Creme, Squeeze, Robert Palmer, Mellencamp, Petty, Smithereens...well, that scratches the surface, anyway.
Although I've tried to upload songs here that are compatible, I do alot of different styles besides what you'll hear here. If you wrote every song to sound like the last one, The Beatles never would've gotten from "Love Me Do" to ABBEY ROAD, eh?
