In an industry that seems a little too obsessed with the over-night, just-add-water 'popstar' artists of late, it's reassuring to know there are still bands like Hairy Lemon winning fans over the old-fashioned way.

Formed by three brothers from Adelaide with a shared passion for music, the band has dedicated themselves to their life-long love. Somebody once said: “The harder I work, the luckier I get” and the guys have taken that sentiment to heart, gigging hard while constantly honing their songwriting and on-stage abilities.

Hairy Lemon is led by Keith Jeffery, guitarist/singer/songwriter, together with brothers Steve Jeffery on Bass and Mike Jeffery on Drums. The guys admit a wide range of influences, naming bands like The Police, The Beatles, Sublime, early-Chili Peppers, and Bob Marley.

""Our whole life is music. When we work we're playing music, and when we aren't playing music were generally listening to it or writing new stuff. Stylistically, we try to keep it pretty diverse or we'd get bored too quickly.

A number of years on from their first forays, after releasing one EP and three albums, their relentless commitment is paying off, with good record sales and several prestigious awards to their name.

In 2003 the band picked up the award for 'Most Outstanding Emerging Artist' at the SAMI awards and played supports with Aussie legends 'You Am I' and 'Jimmy Barnes'.

In 2004, Hairy Lemon released their latest album 'Incommunicado'. Several tracks from the new album received some much-deserved airplay and are being used on TV programs such as Channel Ten's 'Simply Footy'. In all, 4 songs from the album made their way out into the world of Radio. ‘On & On’ and ‘After We Burn’ have received Triple J airplay, while commercial station Triple M feature-played ‘Aching’ on their Melbourne station for one month and ‘Premium Girl’ on the their national program ‘Planet Rock’. The song ‘Some Nights’ was included on the sound track to Layne Beachley’s DVD ‘Life in the Fast Layne’. Amongst numerous other live performances for the year, Hairy Lemon played at the ‘Bass In The Grass’ Festival in Darwin with big names such as Grinspoon, The Dissociatives, and The Superjesus.

The band has been spurred on by Incommunicado’s modest successes. They have spent a good portion of 2005 writing and recording a follow-up album. Once again, this new collection of songs will be a dedicated pursuit of new musical ground, both lyrically and musically.
