The alternative monster known as KOJAK began circa January of 2005 in the city of Schweinfurt, Germany when four guys with eccentric backgrounds combined their uber-cultural influences to produce a bizarre version of a sound reminiscent of “Rage against the Chilli Foo Pilots”. Armed with angry guitars, silly melodies, and lots of punk rebellion, KOJAK forced its way onto the German music scene playing over 40 loud, sweaty, and always controversial gigs in 2005 shocking the locals, club owners, and other bands along their path.
To no one’s surprise, KOJAK was an instant success with the large American community stationed in Germany, and only 4 months into their existence they were headlining major events for the U.S. Armed Forces in Europe. In January of 2006, less than a year after their first gig, the band continued their rebellious mantra by releasing their debut EP “Simply Complicated” on Friday the 13th. On a day when most people fear to leave their homes, the band scored a hugely successful gig with a sold out venue and impressive CD sales.
Energized by the magic of that night, Kojak developed plans for a promotional tour focusing on cities near U.S. military bases in Europe. In between touring, the guys will continue to write and record, what in their own words they describe as “not regular rock songs, but Anthems” for their full length CD which they plan to release later this year.
