La Sierra is a Manchester based Pop/funk act formed in 2015. Elements of nu-jazz, soul, house and acid-jazz are ever-present within the La Sierra’s music, attributed to large and eclectic mix of influences the group shares, the most prominent of which being Jamiroquai, Foals, The Avener and Clean Bandit.
Having just finished their first album ‘Piece of Mind’, La Sierra is currently in preparation for the album’s official release and the summer season.
The group came about as a result of a meeting between, singer, Matthew Manning and, composer/guitarist, Danny Stacey. Having both previously been associated with diverse range of acts and projects the pair chose to focus on creating something that drew on their personal influences whilst retaining a strong sense of commercial viability.
A shared entrepreneurial mind-set led them to compose and self-produce the album, with the intention of hiring various musicians to perform with them live. Through this thought process they felt it necessary to stray away from the exhausted guitar, bass, drums setup. Choosing instead to diversify the live ensemble with the incorporation of keys, strings and brass, thereby providing a more unique and engaging experience for audiences.
