MARK ST JOHN-Jones is a legendary bass-guitarslinger/vocalist - a dedicated and professional stylistic bluesman with over 45 yrs of experience organizing, touring, producing, and recording with some of the finest traditional blues players in the business! ‘ST JOHN’s bass chops lock in with the drummer to create a magic shuffle groove that is definitely undeniable and he states: ""This is 45 years of my passion.....for just a few minutes of yours!"" STJOHN, from the age of 6, grew up playing classical violin, starting in grade school, church, and in summer youth orchestras. Then after seeing many live recording artists of the time in his home town of Kansas city, Kansas in his teen years, St John was intrigued by the professional music business. After seeing the Beatles on television he bought his first bass guitar then went through the usual popular musical trends – country and western, rock ‘n’ roll, soul music, among others before settling into the blues groove. Since being drawn to Southern California in 1968 by the exciting music wave that was taking over the music business, ST JOHN has shared the stage with, among others, Albert Collins, Bo Diddley, and Chuck Berry, Joe Houston, and ex-Rolling Stone Mick Taylor......talk about ‘blues roots’!
StJohn says, ""Talk about the Blues Roots? It’s completely about the Roots, Man, this is ALL- AMERICAN music,.... it’s about MEN and WOMEN and LIFE and what WE have lived as a national people"", and then continues, ""This music comes from the hearts & souls of the people of this country and is a large part of our country’s History!""
Over the past 7 years STJOHN has spent most of his professional energies gigging and recording with SoCal songwriter/guitarist Ms Jill Sharpe, releasing several CDs and hosting the very successful ""Long Beach Blues Jam"", an all-ages music workshop in Long Beach, Ca.
It was at this jam/workshop venue where ST JOHN met 'CAT FISH' and in March of 2012 they began to re-form what the Hollywood Hound Dogs have become today!!
Some of the most prolific blues players on the west coast are associated with this band and several are featured on the band's debut CD release, ""RITE ON!-RITE NOW!"" !! With this latest project ""CATFISH and the HOLLYWOOD HOUND DOGS"" up and rolling ST JOHN is ready to head out on the international tour circuit once again...!!

CATFISH & THE HOLLYWOOD HOUND DOGS, are a Los Angeles based dedicated group of talented musician/performers who play Jump-blues style and traditional classic blues music!!. The group made their major debut in 2009 at the Montebello, Calif. Fall Festival and just recently have been regularly appearing at southern California venues such as, the World Famous King King blues club in Hollywood, a 1 year stint as the Thursday night house band at the Firehouse bar and grill in Whittier, Calif, and recently opening shows at the House of Blues in both Hollywood and Anaheim, Calif, where they drew audiences of 500 to 800 fans. In November 2012 the band was the featured headliner at ""The Day of The Dead"" outdoor concert in Riverside, Calif. and rocked a crowd of around 5000!! They work regularly on the west coast and also recently opened shows in the southern Calif area for legendary bluesman Rod Piazza & exciting blues diva Candye Kane!!!

From their 'sharp-dressed' attitude to their unbelievable group chemistry and personality charisma CATFISH and the HOLLYWOOD HOUND DOGS dynamic and exciting live performances have appealed to and gained a local west coast following that has attracted the eyes and ears of the blues, rockabilly, motorcycle, and hot rod scene. Their mix of West Coast Jump Swing and electric Chicago classic blues is highly appreciated by a mixture of both young fans and older blues loving crowd. The Hollywood Hound Dogs are comprised of some of the heaviest hitter guitarists and blues musicians on the west coast jump blues scene and sling everything they've got in their bag of chops into backing the outstanding showman, ""CATFISH"" !!
But where CATFISH and the HOLLYWOOD HOUND DOGS have BEEN is not nearly important as where they are GOING!!

The band has finished recording a brand new CD entitled ""RITE ON - RITE NOW!"" just released in June 2013 courtesy of LUX RECORDS USA, Oceanside, Calf!!
And next the band will follow by working searing CD release tours from Calif to the East coast and internationally! This recording, which is at present getting much radio airplay across the USA, all over the world, prolifically in Europe, in Holland, the UK, France, Italy, Canada and Australia, includes tracks from internationally famous guitarist Nathan James, west coast studio guitarist Anthony Contreras, and New Orleans based slide guitarist SmokeHouse Brown, along with West Coast studio keyboardist Mike Malone.

Here's a hard working band with a gigantic plan, enormous talent, and beastly stage presence who are on their way to work the national and international circuits!
This “Bone-ified Blues Band” definitely knows how to ""Rock the House"" and are locked and loaded and ready to roll into your house and do just that..!
