Born and raised on Long Island NY, Michael Bernier started out on violin and drums. After playing in many projects in and around New York city Michael moved up to the Hudson Valley where he developed a project called Fugue. Fugue was/is a collective endeavor with a rotating personel to convey his original recordings from his solo multi~instrumental album ""Solo Fugue"" where he plays drums, violin, bass, guitar, tablas and Chapman Stick. While playing at a performance Michael was approached by Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, John Lennon, Pink Floyd etc.) who wanted to know how he could go about getting Stick lessons from him. A short while after Tony Levin released his album""Stickman"" where Tony credits Michael for ""Advanced Stick Techniques"". Currently Bernier is in ""Stickmen"", a trio with Tony Levin and King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto. They will be performing their first show in October in Poland.
