He's got the technical skills, the passion, the experience - but perhaps it's the depth and breadth of Paddy Thorne's profile that makes him so in demand as a DJ and producer.

He's an expert in all things electronica and can put together a track or set in a wide range of genres... From deep and tech house to progressive, breakbeat and drum and bass.

He started playing live in the mid-1990s, securing big gigs while still at university. He played Bagleys and Hanover Grand, then The Ministry of Sound in 1995.

“When I was performing in London, I was playing all sorts, 'electronic music' is how I described my genre,” Paddy says. “There were so many genres materialising and there were tunes that I liked from all of them, so I built my sets to showcase all styles.”

He’s continued to be flexible in his approach and likes nothing better than to try out new styles and master production techniques. This flexibility makes Paddy a popular booking to this day.

His varied back catalogue blends perfectly with fresh new tracks and his own productions.

In the past few years he has released remixes via Base Music, Dekoded Records and Slider Trax, and is now going through his back catalogue on disk to give his ideas a modern twist. “Several of them have already been converted and reproduced and have been released on Base Music, my favorite being The Rules of The Game - a tune that I originally wrote in 1996,” he said.

He likes nothing better than putting his own stamp on things and often plays an entire set of his own work.

He’s a regular, friendly face at Bournemouth’s biggest underground nights, with numerous gigs for Terminal, Special Branch and Pure Klass this year. In December, he will be playing the back room at Pure Klass v Special Branch Christmas party at the town’s premier underground dance venue, The Winchester.
