Sahib Radio was born and raised, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. As a child, he recalls listening to his father’s old records of Tex Ritter, and other Singing Cowboys. Family and friends would also gather on weekends for Bluegrass jams. His mother had a fondness for Elvis Presley records. Sahib listened and absorbed all the different musical styles that surrounded him in his youth. The rise of The Beatles, popularity in America, was what really sparked his interest in music. Around the same time, he also discovered some of Bob Dylan’s early records. From that point he formed and fronted many bands, always shying away form covers and preferring to play originals. In the mid 80’s he had the opportunity to travel overseas and set out with a 4 track recorder. He listened and absorbed the many musical styles he was exposed to and came up with the cassette only release titled, Journey Through The Mediterranean. Upon returning home he continued his writing and recording, with an occasional live performance. In the early 90’s he formed a concert production company, and began bringing some rather unique artists to the Western North Carolina area. Some of the artists Sahib worked with during this time include, Townes Van Zandt, Peter Rowan, Jerry Douglas, John Hartford, Derek Trucks, Leon Russell, 311, Lucinda Williams, Flat Duo Jets, Guy Clark, Robert Earl Keen, and others. During this time he continued writing and recording, but gave up performing live altogether. Then in the mid 90’s, a bout with drug addiction forced Sahib to reevaluate his life. He gave up music entirely for 7 years, and concentrated on getting his life back together. In 2004 he started working on his home studio, and once again began writing and recording. Since then, he has released numerous albums all on his own. Each track is unique and highlights the many musical styles he has been exposed to over the years.
