Shadowstar ex Machina (Willie J. Phillips)



Born: 6/15/1981 in Fort Bragg, NC to ZELDA YVETTE (JARVIS) PHILLIPS and WILLIE ARTHR PHILLIPS



Born Into Hip-Hop: 1993 at the age of 12 years old. While attending Rogers-Herr Middle School in Durham, NC, I was introduced to the new age of hip hop in my life after RUN DMC and HEAVY D; The WU TANG CLAN. That year, I started writing my first rhymes and listening to hip-hop at night (while my mother was asleep). At Northern High School, I participated in the 'Multi-Cultural Celebration' during February. That was my very first time performing rhymes for a crowd.



I started recording in 2001 with my good friend Jordan T. Bell (M. Theory) and we have been making music since then, whether it's with others or not. From 2005 to 2006 we performed in Raleigh, NC at The Pour House, Berkeley Cafe, and The Brewery. They weren't paid performances, but we definitely made our mark.



Along with our present workings, I've had the pleasure of working with other artists and friends of mine (MC1Line, Citero, Hazflo, Delinquent Conscience/DC, DavidRay, Ben Neelan, Rain...).



Our ultimate goal is to make a defining mark in hip hop music for as long as we can. Being signed and paid is important, and being independent and paid is more important, but the most important thing is that HARD WORK makes money. So, our biggest goal is to do more work to be known and satisfy our audience with our music without becoming slaves to our pursuit of education, respect, hapiness and paychecks.
