Silje
I Don't Care if you're Beautiful
This is a wonderful song in both melody and lyric. There's good story-telling here and the chorus is both lovely and memorable. Silje's voice is pure, true and believable. I find myself humming this song from time-to-time. This song is beautiful and I do care about that.

Taylor Mills
Melody
I've never heard of Taylor Mills...she certainly has a superstar quality look, a superstar name and a heck of music resumé! But, how does she sound? Let's find out. After loading up "Melody" and enjoying the plucked guitar intro riff, a soft friendly voice pokes a hole through the music and begins the story. "Melody" bounces along unassuming, with thoughtful, patient and deliberate lyrics. The crowded dead-center panned harmony vocals in the chorus are catchy and let Taylor open the pipes. After a couple of listens "Melody" evokes a nice charm and so does Taylor. "Melody" will sit in this station for quite a while.

Michelle Branch
Everywhere
Michelle Branch has a unique innocent child-like voice which stands out in an oversaturated 'autotuned' world. Branch's song breathe and bounce with poignant lyrics and the ever present catchy chorus.

So Many Strings
"So Many Strings" was one of my top picks for 2000. And for a few reasons: this retro-mod rock song is a tease until the melodic chorus kicks in and then...BAM, hooked! The repetitious guitar riff is a simple, yet effective segue into the verse/chorus. Plain and simple, this is good songwriting and 10 years later, I still love this song!

Cary's Here
"Cary's Here" would not be out of place on a 'Sesame Street' episode, or as a live band performance on SNL. This song has everything: hand claps, ooo's, ahhh's, a brief (too short) horn solo, and a super catchy chorus! That said - the song is a personal recollection of father/child communication. It's heartwarming message wrapped in sugary pianos, guitars and honest vocals.
