Taya was born in Port Huron, Michigan and by age 4, had worn out the table tops with her ""stage"" performances of ""Crazy"", ""Blueberry Hill"" and ""Blue Bayou"", to name a few. Standing up there with her ""hairbrush"" microphone in hand, she felt like a star. While family and friends claimed she had a wonderful voice, she continued to practice and work hard to make it better. Throughout school, she sang in the choir where here teachers would compliment her. She knew back then that she wanted to be a great singer like Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn.

To accomplish her goal, she began entering Talent and Karaoke Contests. To the amazement of others, she won first prize again and again. At one such event, she heard of a band in search of a female country singer and naturally jumped at the opportunity. She became familiar with ""the road"", the fans and the hardwork. She sometimes perfomed in front of several thousand people. During these three years, she learned about stage presence, confidence while performing, and how to reach deep into the fan's hearts with her voice.

Deep inside, Taya was eager to begin writing her own music and to record her debut CD ""Lost In The Desert"". A mixture of country and folk, the CD showcases Taya's unique sound and powerful contralto voice. Taya's first single ""Bad Mood"" is now playing on country radio. In 2003 Taya won Michigan's Country Idol contest and was selected to open for Country MusicHeadliner Aaron Tippin as well as Steve Holy, Marcel and Craig Morgan. Her rendition of the ""National Anthem"", which opened this concert, brought compliments and congratulations from the stars as well as the venue operators. 2004 marked the release of Taya's debut cd ""Lost In The Desert"" and saw her open for Blake Shelton.

As her star begins to shine a little brighter, Taya continues to sing the ""National Anthem"" and ""America The Beautiful"" at numerous concerts and sporting events, as well as performing at charity gatherings and helping communties with local shows.
