Temp was formed in Los Angeles by singer-song writer, Daniel Au, and laptop dj/producer, Lucas Kuzma.
Hailing from the dusty broadlands of Texas, Daniel was raised on Rock, Roll, Folk and Funk. After spending a few years performing as a solo singer-songwriter, Daniel went on to collaborate with the live electronic trio, Dan Dan Ten. After years of laptop solo performance along with bi-weekly sittings with experimental jazz group Connector, Lucas left San Francisco to study Media Art in Los Angeles.
The two met through UCLA's renowned Design program, and began producing what eventually became Temp. Daniel's eclectic guitar styles meshed with Lucas's warped synthesis, and a quite unique sound emerged. The addition of studio visits from expert players from UCLA's school of Ethnomusicology rounded out the electronic production with acoustic depth and tenderness. C'est La Vie EP was then released on Itunes and every other major online distributor via the good folks over at cdbaby.
Daniel, then, had moved to Paris for a little while, drinking wine by the Seine and being merry, while Lucas settled in Brooklyn. During this span of months, nothing new was recorded, nor performed. Instead, Daniel was writing new material influenced by his new surroundings. Lucas continued producing his own progressive dance tracks under his Claus Muzak name. Daniel has returned to the states, and they're back to take over the world! Both reside in the New York area, so be on the look out for shows in the area.
Perhaps we shall just call them artists, or quiet geniuses.
