FRANK PAQUETTE - Guitars, Keyboards, Percussion and Vocals
Frank Paquette, born in Worcester, MA, is the brain child of this diverse yet distinct trio of musicians known as The Secret. From his humble beginnings on the south side of the city he forged a writing career that includes two children's books, cartoons for a number of magazines, three musicals and hundreds of songs. He formed The Paquette~Preston Project with childhood friend Larry Preston. Larry, a founding member of The Shades and also a member of the highly sought-after band known as Zonkaraz, is truly a gifted musician as well as artist. His art work can be viewed at www.addisongallery.com. In 2006 they released the CD entitled ""Discover Me"" on their own indie label which is, oddly enough, still being discovered everyday by more and more fans both in the U.S. as well as in Europe and Japan. It includes the hit singles ""Every Time We Touch"", ""Janine Janair"" and ""You're So Sexy"" which earned Frank an award from the prestigious American Song Festival Songwriting Competition for excellence in creative writing, originality, technical skill and talent. For his latest project, ""Fool and His Amazing Wasted Life"", Frank enlisted the help of Cliff Goodwin on guitar and Phil Berube on bass. Frank wrote, arranged and produced all 13 tracks.

CLIFF GOODWIN - Lead Guitar
Cliff Goodwin, who also hails from Worcester, MA, was a founding member of the legendary American Standard Band. In 1976, he became Joe Cocker’s lead guitarist, where he stayed until 1988, sharing the stage with Nicky Hopkins and Bobby Keyes; recording Luxury You Can Afford (Asylum), Cocker (Capitol), Live In Central Park (Casablanca), Standing Here, and Live in Montreaux; and assumed the role of musical director for Cocker upon joining the band. Cliff has worked with such notables as John Mayall, Steve Miller, and Robert Palmer, appearing on Palmer’s Secrets LP, three Billboard Hot 100-charted singles with the New City Rockers, and the million-seller Twisted Christmas with The Bob Rivers Comedy Corporation. His 16-years as MD and lead guitarist with David Foster & The Mohegan Sun All-Stars has brought him the opportunity to share the stage with Delbert McClinton, BB King, and other outstanding blues legends. Cliff also finds time to consult with the Bose Corporation as Musical Director for Research and Development for the new L-1 Amplification Speaker System and leads the band that demos the system worldwide.

PHIL BERUBE - Bass
Phil Berube started playing piano at the age of six. He later began playing guitar and eventually took up with the bass about the time that The Beatles were seen on The Ed Sullivan Show. Phil's first professional performance was at the tender age of nine. He has been a member of The Blue Sky Band, 3 Guys Plumbing and Storm Front to name just a few. Through his school years he had played in Jazz bands, Show bands and backed up many well known Country stars as well. Recently, Phil has traveled to Canada, Puerto Rico and Kentucky playing in Beatles tribute bands. In a career that spans decades, he says that two of his biggest thrills were playing with The Beatles' first drummer - Mr. Pete Best and playing in Liverpool where it all began.

Soooooo... Frank Paquette, from The Paquette~Preston Project, got together with Cliff Goodwin, from The American Standard Band and The Joe Cocker Band and they both got together with Phil Berube from Storm Front and formed a studio band called The Secret. What resulted from this collaboration is a new CD called ""Fool and His Amazing Wasted Life"". Frank says that they had loads of fun, fun, fun and many sleepless nights putting the music together. He hopes that the fun part comes through to the listener. Frank continues by saying that the CD is somewhat of a concept album expressing the fact that all of life is amazing and we would be fools to waste any moment of it. ""A life without friends is a forgettable life"", ""A life of greed is a fool's life"" and ""A life without memories is a wasted life"" are lyrics from ""Let The Sun"" which is the opening track from the CD. In other words, it's all about peace, love and understanding.

The Secret play a relaxed & tuneful style of Brit-flavored Soft Rock on their fine new release, “Fool and His Amazing Wasted Life.” At times recalling ‘70’s bands like The Bee Gees and Sutherland Brothers (or the Joey Molland-led Badfinger) – albeit, sometimes with more ‘80’s-style production values, the 13-track collection is brimming with solid hooks engagingly delivered in singer Frank Paquette’s decidedly throaty, Mark Knopfler-meets-Leonard Cohen voice. Among highlights, “What About Us” is a nice straightforward pop-rock tune; “Change of Heart” is a soulful bit of California-inspired pop with lush synth-pop backing; and “More Than Love” continues the California influence, opening with beach sounds before segueing into an Adult Contemporary ballad worthy of Air Supply. Elsewhere, The Secret takes some musical chances, dabbling in rap (“Girls In The Project”) & 70’s, gospel-like disco (“Somehow I Know”), illustrating the range of musicality this band of rock vets bring to the table. What ultimately makes The Secret’s “Fool and His Amazing Wasted Life” release, though, are subtle & insinuating melodies that sneak up on you & linger well after a song has finished, & that’s no small accomplishment. -Rice B. & the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
