While living a life of hustling, gang banging and street (hood) life in general, Donte M. Bond soon realized the streets he loved so much did not love him back. Following multiple incarcerations, he finally recognized that deep passion he had for street life and its people was misdirected. However, GOD stepped in and separated the union between Donte and the streets. With his new name, ""UnCommon"", and anointed attitude, Donte' mentally and spiritually filed for separation and ""Divorsin The Streetz"" was born.
After his release from prison in 1998, UnCommon plunged into his God given talent of singing and began traveling around the Los Angeles area with various groups. Ministering and mentoring to youth groups, juvenile detention centers and his former street family, UnCommon landed a job at a juvenile detention facility. Immediately, the residents found an unthreatening spirit in UnCommon and quickly opened up to him sharing their feelings of loneliness, anger, confusion and helplessness. Unfortunately, before he could thoroughly help the young men, UnCommon was let go due to his previous criminal record, although they had been taken aback by the impressive interview that he gave.
Frustrated at the system and the lack of competence of the State’s juvenile programs, UnCommon fell deeper into his music. His purpose was confirmed with even more clarity after watching the life-changing, gut-wrenching movie ""American History X"", which proclaims Hate is baggage. This movie was immediately deemed a tool for this ministry to reach the lost and wounded. Soon after, “The Count of Monte Cristo” was added to this education/growth library as well.
Writing songs and appearing in stage plays eventually led him to Nashville, TN. Leaving behind past disappointments, UnCommon started fresh and developed friendships with Midnyte Sun, T-Dogg, and OldHEAD. Known originally as the Bounty Hunters, (saving the lost at any cost), the foursome noticed the GOD ordained bond growing stronger and founded “BrotherHood"" (BH). The organization quickly began drawing others to fellowship as they serve as an example of true Christian love. Creating a buzz within the Nashville and surrounding communities, God blessed UnCommon’s vision to happen in 2008 with the grand opening of Divorsin The Streetz Music. Blessed with a staff of individuals who care about the betterment of their community, Divorsin The Streetz intends to bridge the gap between the streets and the church.
Grabbing the hearts of our struggling people, Divorsin The Streetz will encourage all ethnicities, cultures and creeds to be free in the knowledge of God’s purpose for their life by giving them anointed teaching, love, and hope. As people search relentlessly to fill a void in their spirit through unsatisfying sinful activity, we will actively provide life-changing choices, empowered by the Holy Spirit. Our sincere prayer is to be living examples of how the love of Jesus Christ can save, heal and restore. From the hood to the suburbs, rural to city, we will spread the Good News of Jesus’ return to all.
Divorsin The Streetz’ members are God’s elect doing God’s work through His grace and mercy. We intend to feed the homeless physically and spiritually, teach our children as the Bible instructs us, reach the incarcerated through ministry and fellowship. Our mission is to reach beyond the surface of man and deal with the issues of the heart sharing the TRUTH and realization of God’s unconditional love. We are not afraid of stereotypes, culture, religions or Satan himself. We are joint heirs of royalty and we refuse to be bound by anything other than the love that was shown at Calvary.
