I'm From New Jersey I Reside In Maine
The artist YAHmil is from Plainfield New Jersey. He went to Plainfield High School where he was kicked out after his 10th grade, through out that time and through his life he has always had music. He has been influenced by artists such as NWA, Run DMC, Big L, KRS 1, Nas, D-Block, Dipset, and Papoose just to name a few. He started freestyling with friends and in the streets every chance he had and a family member by the name of Terrence Washington said to YAHmil that he should think about doing rap music seriously, because he felt that YAHmil was very good at it and that he is better than a lot of rap artists in the rap industry now. With that in mind YAHmil started writing rap music and putting songs together along with doing freestyle tapes and handing them out to see what people thought. Getting back good reviews on his music, YAHmil started to think about having a group, so he came up with the group name The Movement O.N.O ENT. , meaning Official Niggaz Only, which is based off his respect for the group NWA. YAHmil moved to Maine in 2002 to accompany his cousin, who asked him to move with him. In doing so this made it harder to get the right contacts for music and to get the right people to hear his music. YAHmil stands alone at this time for The Movement O.N.O ENT. , so he started putting in work and met a guy named Eric Allain who had a studio set up in his home. The became cool and started doing music together. They put a CD together in which YAHmil named “Welcome 2 Da Streetz” that is currently available on www.cdbaby.com. YAHmil put together a mixtape called “Hood Victory” which he is putting out in volumes to get a following and to get his name known so he can start the steps that will lead to his goal of getting into the rap music industry. YAHmil had a son in 2005 and a daughter in 2007, so the drive became even more serious and intense for YAHmil. Music wasn’t first on his mind for awhile, he still did music, but family came first. YAHmil still stood strong and put in work with most of the free time he had and could get.
And I will end YAHmil’s biography with a quote from YAHmil himself:
YAHmil said, “I want this first because of my love for music and secondly because I want a better way of life for my family than I had. And if I can do that while doing something I love, it would be considered a Win/Win. My music is not only for the streets, it is for everyday people who live everyday lives no matter what you do or where you from.”
