After a ten year hiatus, the band reformed in 2005 with original members David, Jim, and Steve. All grown up and fully immersed in their day jobs, the former psychology and social ecology majors decided to give the band another go. Changing their name from ""The Shade"" to ""5HT"", a reference to drug treatments for psychological disorders was one of the first orders of business (see blog for details). While the 90's version of the band pumped out melancholy songs focused on teen angst. The re-formed trio comes with a new outlook and a new direction - faster tempos, more intensity and … well, the songs still focus on angst, but perhaps the 30's something version.

Toll Roads
A political song about the West's desire to control the East's oil. Musically it has an early U2 feel.

Now's the time to spend that economic stimulus check. For the same price as a gallon of gas in Southern California you can now own our freshly printed 6 song EP, Reuptake Inhibitors. The title has to do with blocking reuptake of serotonin (5-HT) a process that leads to great happiness.

Songs on Reuptake Inhibitors: Toll Roads, Robot Guy, Control, She Owes She Owns, Underneath, & Popularity

Our EP was produced and recorded by our own David Lyon in San Clemente, CA, with financial and musical support from Steve and Jim as well. We had the songs mastered by JJ Golden of Golden Mastering in Ventura, CA.

The replicated disks are on their way back to us and should be ready to ship in a week or so.

Pre Order now through our PayPal link on our myspace profile (myspace.com/5HTmusic). And while you're at it buy some Coach House tickets for our September 5th show. We'll be opening for LA Guns. Should be a rocking show.

Peace
