MIKE SCOTT is one quarter of cult underground melodic hardcore band PHINIUS GAGE. The band have played hundreds of shows, a radio 1 session, countless festivals and their ‘Broken Wings’ single made it onto the playlists of MTV2 and Rockworld TV.
Now gone solo, MIKE is following in the footsteps of Frank Turner, Mike Park, Joey Cape and the like in using his punk roots to offer up his own brand of acoustic, folk with a dark edge and political lyrics.
Getting signed to FOND OF LIFE RECORDS in Germany before playing a single live show, Mike released his debut EP, ‘Massacre Songs’ in October 2007. Its press of 1000 mostly went to dedicated Phinius Gage fans via his website.
The EP caught the attention of influential webzine Punktastic.com, and he was signed up to PUNKTASTIC RECORDS for his 2nd EP, ‘…At The Slaughterhouse’, which came out on January 1st 2008. Its 6 tracks, including a cover of Propagandhi’s infamous ‘Fuck Religion’, and was the label’s first completely free to download release. The amount of downloads has already reached the thousands and is going up every day, with plays from BBC Radio 1’s Mike Davies helping the cause.
Although Mike has still only played a few shows, he has already shared the stage with Luke Pickett, Kelly Kemp and toured with Mike Park and Chris from the Lawrence Arms. He tours throughout the UK in August with Kevin Seconds and Kepi Ghoulie and plays the acoustic stage of the legendary Rebellion Festival.
