While attending North Texas State University, and just getting back from the cafeteria, Ron got a call in his dorm room from Maynard Ferguson asking if he could tour and record. After spending 2 years with Maynard and recording the albums 'Storm' and 'Live in San Francisco' Ron moved to L.A. attending the Dick Grove School of Music, blowing off class to surf, while honing his orchestrating and arranging skills.

In 1984, Ron landed in Barry Manilow's band. Touring the world, appearing on T.V. shows and recording several albums. On breaks from the poker table, Ron can be seen with Barry through out the coming year in Las Vegas. Other artists Ron has toured with include Air Supply, Ann-Margret and Kirk Whalum.

Ron's original compositions can be heard on 7 Uncle Festive C.D.'s on various labels. He received national airplay and has had songs in the Top Ten of the Radio & Records smooth jazz chart. He’s played many Jazz Festivals through out the world. Listen closely and you can hear his song 'Talk the Talk' on the Muzak loop at Disney's Great Adventure and at the United terminal at LAX. And last month his arrangement of ‘Stone Soul Picnic’ was heard on the American Airlines in flight program. You know you’ve made it when they’re playing your songs in elevators. Ron's most recent work is with 'Kombo"" on GRP records.

Ron has performed with, or been seen hanging out with, Diane Schuur, Stevie Wonder, Freddie Hubbard, The Pointer Sisters, Suzanne Somers, Paula Abdul, Irakere, John McEnroe, McCoy Tyner, Bette Midler, Virgil Fox and David Foster.
