July 8th, Des Moines, IA - Local Rap Artists, Kyd N Tre, are set to release their third duo album independently on July 22nd. After releasing their first album in early 2007 under the radar, the duo went for a bigger approach the second time around. With four very catchy singles under their belt. Their independent label, Xerost8 Records, has the internet in somewhat of a headlock. They have a record of almost 99,000 song/video plays. They are attempting to hit 100,000 by release date. They want to make their names known throughout the city with their third duo album. The album titled, “Iowa Money” signifies their upgrade from a small city scale to the big city spectrum.
In early May, they released the first single off of the album. A song titled, “Iowa Born”, produced by Memphis, Tennessee producer, J.Mack. But when they got the track, they didn’t feel it was ready. “We made the song and when I went to mix it, I didn’t feel the beat hit hard enough so I went back and added harder drums and a couple things here and there” One half of the duo, Tre D Crazi, said. Tre is no stranger to albums because this is his 6th independent album in a matter of 3 years.
The song has made some impact around the city through MySpace and YouTube. With almost 4,000 plays in two months, the song has reached many of the locals from the fans to the artists. Including local artist, Horizon, who has opened for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony & has had his videos viewed by fans in multiple countries, let the duo know he supports their song. “Iowa Born is the hottest single in the streets” Horizon said at a recent concert. With the stars of the city voicing their support from Joey Ashby to Horizon to Izzy Dunfore.
The album, which was completed between February and June, features 18 brand new tracks. Included is the newly announced second single, “King Sh*t”, produced by Tre himself. The song features an old-school sample of Outkast member Andre 3000, at the beginning and end of the track. Eyerishkyd, the other half of the duo said this of the song, “Since we took a different route for this album, calling it, “Iowa Money” instead of “Kings Of The Midwest 3”, it was a good feel to at least put a song on there that still stated we’re doing king sh*t. It’s a hot track.”
The album also features the song, “Lookin’ At A Star” featuring fellow Xerost8 artist, Thrilla. The song makes it mark as an anthem for the clubs, the bars and well, the stars. A definite future single that is sure to deserve some radio rotation. Another song on the album, “So Long” embodies everything Kyd N Tre stand for as people. “I really want to make songs that make people think. Songs that you can imagine the video for before it’s even made.” Tre said about the song.
The guests on the album are mostly Xerost8 artists (Prophecy, Thrilla & Boy Butta) except for one. Local rapper, Izzy Dunfore (whose signed to Slipknot member Sid Wilson’s label) makes a guest appearance on a song for every emcee (“The Cypher”). The production on the album come mostly from Tre but the two other producers on the album are J.Mack (Big Jokka, Rich Muzik) and future superstar producer KaneBeatz whose catalog includes half of Chamillionaire’s last album, Lil’ Scrappy’s latest single and singles from Trick Daddy, Lil’ Wayne and others.
The album will be available online through www.xerost8records.com and in stores at select Des Moines locations (CD Warehouse, Hip Hop Heaven & ZZZ Records). Let’s see what controversy will be cooked up next in what possibly could be a long career for Kyd N Tre once this album drops.
Kyd N Tre have worked with/associated with Lil’ Wayne, Ludacris, The Game, Field Mob, Chamillionaire, Mista Cane, Ken Jo, Wes Fif, Hyro Da Hero and The Pack. With production from Tre himself, Kane Beatz, J Mack, Pyro, Black Tee Productions and Mardah Beatz.
