Hailing from the town of Tunbridge Wells, the work of Tom Williams & The Boat is a natural progression from Tom’s solo work, with the addition of drums, bass, violins, guitars, mouth organs and pianos.
The band have earned a constantly growing fan-base through supporting bands such as The Wombats, Good Books, Jack Penate, Air Traffic, Chris TT, Jeremy Warmsley, Emmy the Great, Tokyo Police Club and Laura Marling.
The band have released 3 EPs so far in since late 2007 with over 20 tracks; The Penguin EP in October 2007, The February EP in February 2008 and most recently Got Fuel EP in August 2008. They have gained continued support from the BBC Kent Introducing team, as well as Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, and Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1.
In May 2008 Tom Williams & The Boat were picked by a panel of Radio 1 DJs to be one of two Kent bands to play the station's own festival 'One Big Weekend' in Mote Park, Maidstone, on the BBC Introducing Stage.
Huw Stephens has recently asked the band to come to BBC's Maida Vale Studios to record their first session for Radio 1. The band will record the session September 3rd, broadcast date coming soon!
