Justin Blake, Country Music Singer / Songwriter

I was born in Opelika, Alabama to a single mother who tried her hardest working two jobs to buy my formula and food. I was told that my dad left us when I was 2 weeks old. At the tender age of 8 I was introduced to music through my mom’s boyfriend. Little did anybody know or even suspect that music would be my path to happiness. It soon became my escape from the troubles of the world I faced everyday. One of my driving ambitions to music was that I could see how people’s attitudes changed just from hearing a song on the radio. It seemed as if the emotions and feelings of the singer seem to attach themselves to the person listening to the song. It seemed as if the songwriter was letting the listener into there own private world. From that moment on it became my drive and ambition to tell not only my story but the story of so many others. In a strange way by telling my story I was actually telling someone else’s story or maybe even your story. I have always enjoyed being able to help people, so if just one of my songs can reach just one person and let them know that they are not the only one going though a certain moment in their life, that someone else has been there before and survived maybe it would help them understand more about what they are going through. To me knowing that I have been able to touch somebody through my music the way that I've been touched before is the greatest felling in the world and can never be replaced. I left Alabama in the spring of 2002 on a greyhound bus to Nashville being a young kid intimidated by the big city and bright lights. I soon returned back to Alabama, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I really wanted to follow my dream. A few years later with a Honda accord loaded down with my clothes and a guitar I decided to return to Nashville. When I got there I soon realized I wasn’t the only one with the same dream. After observing my surroundings I realized I had to have something different. I had to set myself apart from the other artist, regretfully I once again returned to Alabama but this time to really search my soul and find my true roots. I knew I had to do some soul searching to know my innerself before I could tell the truth about me to anyone else. After a few more years of soul searching I entered a competition in Las Vegas, Nevada called the USA World Showcase that was scheduled for January 2nd & 3rd, 2009 at the Las Vegas Hilton, located in Las Vegas, Nevada. I prayed to God that if this is what he had planned for my life that he would provide me with the talent I needed. After saving every dollar I could get I made my way to Las Vegas. I competed in the USA World Showcase and I won a 1st Place Trophy for Best Overall Country Singer!


One motto I have always lived my life by is “anything that doesn’t kill you only makes you a stronger person.”
