His first recordings were done in Nashville on the label based in Columbus called Trish Records. He cut four sides on two singles. ""Damn Those Memories/Sarah"" and ""Letter From Billy Joe/Biding My Time Again"". These singles were released regionally and got attention for Larry by Jim Stephens in Atlanta at Aim High Productions a year later. However, after their release Larry's mother died, and he abruptly lost all interest in music for almost a year, and went on a drinking binge which almost ruined his health. Stephens in Atlanta then signed him to JDS where he recorded. Larry was living in Atlanta at that time. The first single ""Country Music Never Let Me Down"" and the flip side ""My Sorrow Is Not Yet Completed"", a song he had written to his mother and her death. He recorded a second single on JDS Records that he never was happy with and that single was never released before he left JDS and headed for Nashville. There he opened up his own label Loree Records, and six months later released his first CD ""The Blue Highway"". The JDS recordings were turned over to him and were used on this CD with the exception of ""Damn Those Memories"", he actually used an earlier version of that tune. The CD included 12 songs, which most were recorded after he arrived in Nashville. Thanks to his earlier first hit worldwide in the Independent Markets with ""Country Music Never Let Me Down"" and ""My Sorrow Is Not Yet Completed"" he did a massive mail out to over 39 countries and started receiving additional airplay which brought him in the light of a favorite Country music artists in those same 39 countries. With gigs and radio tours the music business kept him busy from that one release for a decade.
