Orange Hour, hailing from Clearwater, Fl, was formed in 2009 by singer/songwriter Darrell Bevins. For a decade, the singer worked on his craft in several local groups. At the end of 2008, he decided it was time to take music to the next level and make it a full-time career. Starting from scratch, he found the all new members needed to fulfill his musical vision.
He started rehearsing at a new practice space with a very good friend and producer/engineer Zion Wooldridge. Sitting on 40 original songs that needed to be recorded, the two wasted no time searching for the next members of Orange Hour. After a few auditions, they came across Nicholas Pelley, a drummer with common musical interests, goals, and a similar work ethic. After the first meeting the three knew that it was destiny for them to work together and started rehearsing. Nicholas was asked to leave his drums after the very first practice!
After a few months of work, Nicholas found the next addition to the band, Hugh Newmark. He immediately added a sound the group needed with his classic rock style leads and gripping rhythms. After 2 months of acoustic performances around the Tampa Bay area, the group was ready to plug in, rip, and show the world how Orange Hour really sounded! There was only one thing missing.
Taylor Gilchrist and Nicholas had been in a previous band together and had not seen each other since the breakup, years prior. A chance meeting at a local restaurant lead Nicholas to ask Taylor up to the practice space. It ended up being a great invitation. The four musicians' talents and abilities immediately blended to form what is now Orange Hour.
With their new award winning line-up, the band continued to work through 2009 and improve the overall sound. They have released an eight track CD, toured a multiple states, won a number of music and songwriting competitions and contests, and have left a large impact on the local music scene in their few short months together. Orange Hour's influences include Sublime, Incubus, For Squirrels, Straylight Run, Staind, The Shins, Tool, Social Distortion, The Cult, Silversun Pickups, Rage Against the Machine, Brand New, Alice' n Chains, Muse, Dave Matthews, Live, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, 3 Doors Down, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Led Zeppelin.
