Almost David was born on a precise but undisclosed date in the 1970s in the leafy suburb of Bramley, Leeds in the UK.

He first discovered music at the age of 5 when he was introduced to the magic of ABBA. He has fond memories of waking up on Sunday mornings and discovering ABBA's album back catalogue appearing at the side of his bed each month. After exhausting his dance moves to classics such as 'Nina Pretty Ballerina', 'The King Kong Song' and 'Sitting in a Palm Tree' in 1982 he put his ABBA albums away and denied ever having heard of them. Though he secretly could not understand how they had been so successful if no one admitted to liking them!

A new dawn broke at the age of 11 in Almost David's life when he saw 3 unkempt ladies not caring on Top of the Pops! Bananarama made their way into his music collection. This was the golden age of inspiration-The Human League, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, OMD, Prince, Madonna, The Thompson Twins, The Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, Kate Bush, Kylie, Sisters of Mercy and 5Star all fed into the nerve centre of inspiration.

He wrote his first lyrics at the age of 12, a song called 'Childhood Days'. A Christmas Casio keyboard later and the songs started to come thick and fast. Classic followed classic: 'War is No Good', 'The Male Woman', 'Cruel Religion', 'Layers of Grief' and 'Russia' lined the tape decks. GCSEs, an obsession with black and an addiction to clearisal took over and the creative juices waned. There was a resurgence during the university years and a permanent revisiting of ABBA. A mortgage, a keyboard and a 4 track reinvigerated Almost David in the 2000s and along with 13 trips to Sweden and years of watching Eurovision a passion was reignited! Old songs will be revisited along with newer creations; new feelings will be explored and old ones exposed.
