Bae Tigre is the newest musical project of Minneapolis-based musician, Ranelle Johnson. With a background both playing violin in orchestras and producing synths/beats using outboard gear and Ableton, Johnson combines classical and electronic elements in her songwriting to create dynamic soundscapes to hold particular emotions expressed through her ""quivering"" vocals. Johnson released her first album, ""Memoir of a Happy Drifting Chemical"" in November 2014 via Polkadot Mayhem. Johnson wrote, recorded, and produced the album solo and performs with a live band featuring electric cello (Addison Wasson), viola (Alex Galle-From), kaos pad/sequencers (Nathaniel Bates), keyboards (Ranelle Johnson), and live drums (John Acarregui/Katherine Seggerman).
This summer, June 2015, Bae Tigre released its second EP. This time around, Johnson teamed up with longtime band cohorts, Alex Galle-From (viola) and Addison Wasson (cello), to record the album, which showcases layers of live strings to bathe in, along with Johnson's playful vocals and symphonic production.
