BIG SEVENTIES BUSH - The tale of a hairy past
2004 -The seed of an idea was to have a quiet little cocktail band that could play, well in those days...smokey little bars around town. Finding other players around 2004-5 was a hard ask. We mostly came from the independent alternative rock metal scene of the 90's. With that Rock'n Roll twist of fate, ended up at a CES meeting for course placement. Low & behold they had a music programme...I could not put my hand up fast enough! The 3 month course had me falling in with Shanan The Cannon ( Lead Guitarist ) + metal heads, jazz musicians & Hip-Hop artists. Meeting these dudes was a real trip.
As the course ended we started to form side projects & started us on our way to defining our style we have today.
Watering that little seed for year or so, we ended up with a healthy shrub...Quickly noticing the rapid growth, recruited my brother Aziz Da Wiz ( Bassist ) & Shanan's brother Todd aka. ( Jeff ) on drums.
Armed with a fist full of songs, we got a couple of singers on board plus a percussion player & headed straight to the next battle of the bands. After making it all the ways to the finals, we ended up winning crowd favourite & playing the finals showcase on the main stage of the Governor Hindmarsh.
The shrub had become a little bush. Sigh- So for the years to come & many shows played all over Adelaide & beyond, there were line up changes & great players come & go...all that bullshit was just fertiliser for our project.
After finding a keyboard player in the shape of ( Jimmy Van Jamarillo ) & a kick ass drummer by the name of ( Dillon's Johnson ) The last few years the line up has been nourished & tended to lovingly & has bloomed into the BIG SEVENTIES BUSH you get today - 2016
Have not stopped playing shows since... & many more to come! For a pictorial history or links to our next shows check out our Facebook band pages or have a listen at Revebnaiton - Soundcloud - Youtube.
