Singer/songwriter Dana Simone, a 25-year-old soprano from New York, discovered her voice at a young age and has been delighting the public with her musical talents ever since. Apart from writing her own songs, containing diverse themes including hope, love, loss, intrigue, and regret, Dana is equally adept at performing cover songs. Exhibiting an immense passion for her craft, she has sung in the chorus of her high school as well as that of the local Girl Scouts (with whom she sang the National Anthem at Citi Field), and has performed at benefits, dinners, charities, children events - even shopping malls. Her musical talents also include playing the guitar and piano.
Possessing a keen interest in fashion, Dana is also an active member of SAG-AFTRA, having performed as a background actor in a variety of films and TV shows. She has also starred on the local stage, including a lead role in 2012 as Gertrude McFuzz in the Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty musical Seussical, as well as in productions of The King and I and Gypsy. In 2011, Dana was the proud New York State winner of the annual National PTA Reflections contest for her musical composition Together We Can, and in July 2013 she took part in the IDA program (Inspire and Develop Artists) in Miami, Florida whose roster of mentors included renowned musicians Mark Hudson, Jon Secada, Rudy Perez, and David Frangioni. As a program participant, Dana co-wrote and recorded the song “Holding On”; thereafter distributed and currently available as a single on iTunes.
In 2017, Dana entered the renowned Cove City Sound Studios in Glen Cove, NY, and with producers Eren Cannata, Richie Cannata, and Marvin Welkowitz, recorded her original composition “That’s What It Means,” a song she co-wrote with guitarist Greg LaMastro. With new recordings on the way and a 50-minute stage set comprising both original and cover material, Dana and her fantastic backup singer LaLa McGriff look forward to performing at numerous venues and locations, bringing the audience back in time from the Motown era to the 1980's, and up to the present. Our show is a self-contained music production with a state-of-the-art sound system and audio engineers. Expect to hear more from Dana Simone in ensuing months.
