“FIVE DAYS WITH YOU” singer, songwriter and guitarist Mark VanMarter started to play guitar in 1978. Soon after, he began to accompany his playing with his voice and by 1982, formed his first rock cover band. “ Metal bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and the Scorpions influenced me. Acts like Blue Oyster Cult and Ted Nugent were also a big part of my rock and roll vocabulary.”
Between 1982 and 1988 Mark played over three hundred, twelve song sets throughout the Northeastern United States and Canada. “ In retrospect, although we made no money, it was a great experience. Until a musician has spent some time on the road, they don’t really have an idea what the business can be like.” Mark goes on to say, “The experience of playing live is worth its weight in gold.” In 1988 a decision was made to focus on a career in sales and Mark relocated to Miami, Florida.
By 2000 Mark was bitten by the songwriting bug and decided to start writing some songs people from his generation could relate to. “ I just felt as though it was time to bring a great style of music back. I wanted to hear something a little more upbeat, that just seems non-existent in rock these days.” In May of 2000, Mark decided to cut a three-song demo. The outcome received a good response and six more songs were written.
In 2003 the self titled “FIVE DAYS WITH YOU” was released on MP3.com. The response was excellent, however MP3.com was purchased and product was no longer available to sell. “The record has been in limbo for some time and I don’t have a band, so the music is not being heard live". In 2005 Mark relocated back to New York and is in the process of putting a live act together.
