Born into a family of a strong musical background I began singing at four years of age, playing the guitar at six, songwriting around ten years and expressing myself through visual art.
Having roots in the styles of bluegrass and country music I soon after developed my own sound and playing style branching out from a wide variety of musical influences. Many styles like rock and the many styles incorporated there, folk, world, new age, gospel, classical, jazz, the blues, soul, and r&b have influenced me and continue to.
In high school I began playing a classical guitar style thus implementing a more sophisticated sound into my compositions and in college jazz. I was the main guitarist of the jazz ensemble of the college I attended for a couple of years. Let me tell ya jazz made me ten times the musician I was beforehand. I know a lot of my music is more on the mellow and thought provoking side but you stick an electric guitar in my hands and put me with a band I can rock too hehe ... I've experience as a lead guitarist, back up and lead vocalist in a local rock band my senior year in high school. I've played various venues as a solo performer locally and regionally. I was a fill in bass player for my family's bluegrass gospel group in the 90's.
In 1999 I was in a car accident that forever changed my life. Sustaining a severe head injury I was brought back and in a coma for some time. Slept right through my eighteenth birthday until I finally awoke in Atlanta's Sheperds Center hospital (God Bless you). Basically jolted backwards to the mental capacity of a toddler I had to re-learn everything; walking, talking, reading, writing, etc. I, along with a music therapist, had to re-teach myself music. It's been a long, hard road but all thanks be to God and a loving and supportive family I'm back and better than ever!
You know if I had the opportunity to change what happened you think I would? Nope. I am a true believer in everything that happens happens for a reason. In all actuality I'm a better musician and artist after the fact. Not to mention a better person all-around.I'm here for a reason and I believe I know that reason. My goals in music and art are such that I am looking not only to continually broaden my creative aesthetic but to also touch people's lives abroad.
May you listen and take something with you when you go ... God Bless.
