Based in Portland, Oregon, Trick Sensei plays psychedelic indie rock. The band's multiple songwriters and vocalists offer a variety of sounds often characterized by lush and washy guitar, minor key vocal harmonies, and a solid rhythm section, often juxtaposed with trippy theremin work and quirky samples. Trick Sensei is about good pop songs with room for experimentation. In a live setting, when the mood strikes, there can be an improvisational element in which all the Sensei are well versed. The lyrics are intelligent, earnest, and heartfelt.
