After an international upbringing which involved growing up in Thailand, Kenya, Egypt, and Belgium, Mike Gibbons set down his roots in the town of Mill Valley (Marin County, Northern California) in 2003. Before long, Mike's solo acoustic performances caught the attention of Thom and Becky Steere, owners of the world renowned Sweetwater Saloon (historic home to Santana, Bonnie Raitt, the Grateful Dead), who began booking him regularly, opening for hot local and national acts including Stroke 9, Luce, and The Heather Combs Band. By 2004, Mike had founded a seven-piece band of his own and established an enthusiastic and loyal Bay Area following in the process. The increasing support for his music led Mike to team up with local producers Dave Tweedie and Steve Bradley of Chocolate O'Brian Productions (No Doubt, Green Day) to record his debut full length album, Jetlag Chronicles, in March of 2005. Remaining independent, Mike has since been alternating between performances in San Francisco (The Independent, Sweetwater) and Los Angeles (The Viper Room, The Mint, Room 5) as he promotes his release and engages new listeners.
