Throughout the history of Rock n' Roll, there have been many exceptional partnerships, that have defined music. Robert Plant & Jimi Page, Mick Jagger & Keith Richards, Axel Rose & Slash, Steven Tyler & Joe Perry, & Roger Daltry and Pete Townsend to name just a few.

The latest such power duo to emerge is Scott Spencer & Joe Tortora, two seasoned veterans of the music scene throughout the Northeast.

Scott (Lead Vocals & Guitar) & Joe (Lead Guitar & vocals) formed Pope Joe in 1997, with the sole purpose of lifting people's spirits for 3 hours each night at the local pub. Playing to packed houses, the group started out as a cover band, touching on such classics and standards from Skynard to Stone Temple Pilots.

But, it wasn't until early 1998, that the group began to dive into originals.
However, once their focus turned from being just ""another bar band"", to the ""Next Big Local Act"", the group realized they had something that others band didnot...A dynamic frontman and a guitar god.

Taking the Northeast by storm, from March 1998 - July 1998, Pope Joe began to develop a name for themselves as an act that no one wanted to follow. Simply put...They blew the competition off the stage!

However, when original bassist, Mike quit the band for personal reasons, the remaining members were left to fulfill a hectic summer schedule with rotating bassists. And, all the magic was gone.

In the years that followed, Scott & Joe released an album under the name of Pope Joe in 2001. ""The Valley and Beyond"" attracted interest from local record companies in Los Angeles, where Scott had moved. During that time, Joe began to tour with a Rolling Stones Tribute Band, called ""Bustin Stones"", and it appeared the duo would never play on the same stage together again.

However, in 2005, all that changed.

Scott had returend back to the Northeast and the two began writing once again. The result was ""II"", the second album published under the Pope Joe name. This 9 song EP, with it's thunderous guitar riffs, blistering solos, and passionate lyrics once again showcased the dominace that made Pope Joe one of the local favorites in the late 90's.

And, with Dan back on drums as a hired gun, the duo are finalizing auditions with bass players before they embark on a tour later this year.

And, the message is still the same:
