CD REVIEW: "7 Years Hard Luck" by Arkansas band Further Down is a great Southern Rock CD reminiscent of greats from Lynard Skynard to The Black Crowes with a couple Matchbox 20-esque mainstream songs peppered in to keep "7 Years" new and fresh with an updated sound.
"7 Years" is laced with the standard Southern Rock subject matter of women, drinking, and just having fun. Driving rhythms with Bluesy leads dominate "7 Years" while Collin's confident vocals effectively enforce the bands "don't F with us" attitude without going too far. Each track, from the mainstream "What You Say" to the upbeat party song "Get Your Rocks Off," is solid enough to stand on it's own as a strong single.
Having kept apprised of Further Down over the last three years, I've seen them hone their craft and take it to a whole new level, and "7 Years hard Luck" is a high energy CD with the ability to motivate even the most lackadaisical among us." - Vexar Entertainment, Memphis, TN 7/06/07
SHOW REVIEW: "Tight, powerful, and with new songs that struck a chord, plus a couple at the end from their earlier days that are top flight rock songs. This is a rock band that in constantly touring the region has learned to perform to a level seen from big-time touring acts." - Arkansas Times (April 2007)
