Storyteller? Siren? Singer-songwriter Eva sure is something special. Armed with her voice and her piano, she touches something in everyone who hears her play. She will remind you of things you thought you had forgotten, she will make you smile and she might even move you to tears.
In Eva's songs, the lyrics are as important as the music. Her lyrics are very personal, yet they touch something universal. In some songs, the lyrics are so honest it's almost embarrassing. Others are more reflective. They deal with topics that range from crazy love affairs to the political situation in the world. Most of the time it turns out that there are no real boundaries between these two. It's poetry as well as social criticism, it's entertainment as well as art. It's personal and political.
Eva studied music both in England and The Netherlands, where she graduated at the interfaculty of Image and Sound at the Royal Conservatory and the Royal Academy as interdisciplinary artist in 2005. But she learned most on stage, playing many gigs all over The Netherlands in the past five years. Highlights were playing at the Binnenach festival in The Hague and playing live on national radio (radio 3fm) and television (Veronica). She played in New York and San Francisco at the end of 2005, and did a tour of seven gigs in the UK in September 2006. She will play in Berlin in December 2006 and is planning to go back to the UK in 2007.
After two EPs (Inside Out in 2004 and and Souvenir in 2006), it was time to record a full lenght album: Metamorphosis. For this album, Eva worked together with Pascal Hallibert (Templo Diez, White Sands), Hans Custers (White Sands, Op) and a variety of guest musicians. Together they lift her songs to another level. Metamorphosis has it all: quiet songs with just vocals and piano as well as full band performances. The focus is always on the song, because in the end, isn't that what it's all about?
