Dance Yourself to Death has been a part of Toronto’s thriving indie rock scene since mid 2004. Since their first show, a benefit at Toronto’s Gladstone hotel, Jen, Nina, and Susan have played to a growing audience of followers. Dance Yourself to Death has received positive reviews in publications such as Now Magazine, Fab Magazine, and Trade Magazine, as well as a cover story in Xtra Magazine. In addition to gaining a following from the band’s headlining shows, DYD have also shared the stage with several familiar faces from Canada’s indie music community, such as The Cliks, Hunter Valentine, Lesbians on Ecstasy, Tucker Finn and Kids on TV.

In the summer of 2005, the band caught the ear of Nick Hurran, a British-born film director who was in Toronto directing the Elton John produced feature film “It’s A Boy Girl Thing”. Hurran requested that the band appear in the film, playing one of their songs on-stage during a “prom” scene. Copies of the band’s rough demo recordings were sent to Sir Elton, who not only approved of their appearance in the film, but also added a Dance Yourself to Death song to the film’s soundtrack CD and had two members of his management team travel to Toronto to see the band play live.
