""We like to call it contemporary classic rock,"" says Jamie Robertson of Mr. Completely. And listeners love to hear it. This self-described blend of old school rock, pop and blues-based rock is full-bodied, emotive and, most importantly, entertaining. Hoist a beer and turn up the volume, you're about to be wooed by Mr. Completely.
Music has something to offer those on both ends. The listener benefits from the ideas and creativity of another person and the artist himself gets as much as he gives. ""I would have to say that first and foremost, music fills my soul with energy,"" declares Robertson. ""It makes no difference whether I am playing it or listening to it, music is a massive part of my life."" Mr. Completely sets out to deliver that same energy to the band's fans, offering songs that are as fulfilling to listen to as they are to create. ""I don't know if there is anything more fulfilling than creating our own music then playing it live and having people get up and dance or applause when the song ends.""
For Robertson and Co., they're not just writing songs and having fun (though that's part of it) – they're offering a necessary service to the world. ""My philosophy on music is that the world would be an unbearable place to live without it in our lives."" Mr. Completely is helping to make the world a better place not just by creating music but by creating great music. ""Music helps us through the hard times and enhances the times that are good already. You can touch people's lives with music on so many levels.""
A lot of artists will say ""life"" if you ask them what inspires them. But Robertson and Mr. Completely take that one step further. It's not just life that turns on the muse, it's the full embracing of the life that surrounds us. ""I get inspired by living life to the fullest,"" says Robertson. People also factor in to Mr. Completely's inspiration for the creative process. Naturally! People are a big part of life and embracing life means relationships of every sort. ""Meeting new people and playing for enthusiastic crowds inspires us. My family is a big inspiration as they are incredibly supportive."" And so are the fans, and why shouldn't they be with music this good? ""I love meeting fans and hearing from them how much they love our songs or hearing someone is using our song at their wedding for the first dance makes me feel that what I am doing is making a difference in people's lives.""
Mr. Completely has opened for Nazareth (two times!), Honeymoon Suite and Trooper. The song ""Walk Away"" nabbed a nomination for song of the year at the 5th annual Island Music Awards. Mr. Completely's ""Without Warning"" video (from back when the band was dubbed Month of Sundays) took first place honors in the Canadian International Film Festival. Toronto Experimental Artists tapped Mr. Completely for its compilation CD, slated for an August release. Shows are being planned and touring is expected for Canada and the United States. The future waits. ""I always have believed that if you bare a part of yourself in your music, it gets you that much closer to those who listen to what you say."" Mr. Completely is currently working with A&R Select, the leading indie A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
Tom Harrison of The Province praised Mr. Completely…
""From Campbell River there is a little Blues Rock and some West Coast polish in a dozen songs and no attempt to be trendy which is to the band's credit. If you've been missing straight ahead rock, this might be your band.""
""Mr. Completely conquers musically because they deliberately reach for a classic sound yet end up with songs that are distinct and original and well worth praise."" - A&R Select
