We are hear kitty kitty
I'm
Nikita la tijera meow.
the rock n roll wonder woman
from the hood of inglewood.
im nikita la tijera.
cus i'm from the street.
hear kitty kitty is who i am n what i do
I didn't just fall off the turnip truck.
I slave constantly toward my life's work to make great rock and roll
where people stand up and take notice. They light lighters.
Their jaws drop. I am a rock star.
I have fronted rock bands while slinging drinks at some of
LA's legendary bars. I have written music and made music with some
of the biggest and most influential names in the industry.
Life has been hard. It always is. But I live every day.
I don't bitch about life in LA and the industry.
I chose it because it was hard, not because I thought it
would be easy. If I wanted easy I would have been a lawyer.
Come hell or high water I am bringing back an
edge and an authenticity to a kick ass girl rock band.
Don't let the fact that we are young and hot fool you. I have lived.
I am independent and fierce.
Hear Kitty Kitty is my vision and my passion.
I make great music.
The people who know me know I have been doing that for a while.
Everyone will know it soon.
I am not a stereotype. My band is not a stereotype.
We were not put together by a producer.
We came together because the universe rewards hard work and passion.
When you put together talent and drive you get HKK.
We make rock and roll. We don't make compromises.
Just listen to my music. It is about my life.
It is my life. What we do is real and it does not
fit into neat catagories. When life beats me up I make rock and roll. When life gives me lemons I paint them purple and I work harder. Nothing has been handed to me.
Nothing can stop me. Nothing can stop us.
we r hear kitty kitty...
and we will change the world.
Jonny Kat
lead gtr, vox
Jonny Kat spent many days and nights wandering the alleys of Hollywood with his trusted gtr on his back. Until one day when he heard the sound that drew him to
his calling as lead guitarist for Hear Kitty Kitty. Nikita's amazing growls and soothing purrs kept this cat's attention and poised him for success. 25 songs later, Jonny and
Nikita's songwriting had become a nightly routine. "I love writing with this band! Every song we play comes from a passionate place, for passoinate people, doing
passionate things!" How does Jonny Kat feel about being the only guy in an all girl band? " My band mates being female just means that I end up lifting the heavy
stuff upstairs to the gig. Great players are great players whether they're girls, boys, or dogs, or cats! They say 'I handle the shit' hence.....Jonny Kat!" " I
say......Jonny Kat rocks the box!!!!
Paloma- drums, vox
Paloma Estevez, born and raised in Southern California, has always had a passion for music. She began her music career by playing trombone at the age of 9 in the Middle school Wind Ensemble at Viewpoint School in Calabasas, CA.
She went on to play in the Jazz Band also and performed with both bands for 8 years. As well as Jazz and Classical she also took time to perform for small benefits and concerts in the school brass quartet. She loved the trombone but didn’t find it satisfying enough. Always dreaming of picking up another instrument it struck her one day that she was going to be a drummer.
Since childhood she had occasionally played hand percussion with her father and found that she had a knack for it. On October 31st 1999, Paloma had found her passion… playing drums. She was at a friends Halloween party with her brother and father watching the Jazz band play standard charts. Paloma was having a conversation with a lady there and her dream of playing drums slipped out of her lips. The lady rushed over to the drummer and told him that Paloma should sit in with the band. After much arguing and hesitation within minutes she was behind the drum set with a crowd of 200 plus people and the band staring at her, waiting for the count in. “ Ok”, she said, “ One, Two, Three, Four” and the band was in. There was no doubt in anyone’s mind that Paloma was a natural born drummer. The next day, her dad found a used kit for sale in the newspaper and bought it two days later. She then went on to play in the High School Jazz Band, joined a rock band called Theolonius Brown and was performing all over LA.
Paloma, a recent graduate of The Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA, has been in several bands, including Rex, who toured the Philippines and has performed in Canada with solo artist Jackson Cook. She has recently joined Hear Kitty Kitty and is ready to rock! She only hopes to continue feeding her soul with rhythm and rockin’ music!
Julie - Bass
Julie is a Berklee College of Music graduate, multi- instrumentalist and the newest member of Hear Kitty Kitty. Julie also plays guitar, piano, sings, writes, teaches music, and one day she'll learn to properly play the drums so that her circle of performance abilities will be complete. She’s gone on tour with bands and as a solo artist, recorded her own music and as a guest vocalist/instrumentalist too! Julie has also helped warm up for bands like Sebadoh, Dishwalla, The Lemonheads, and The Refreshments, to name a few. Julie’s love of bass didn’t come early on, in fact it was about three years ago that a friend asked her to play bass for his project, and after much thought, she accepted. Prior to that, she had never even played bass that much, however, being a quick learner, it was only a short while before she was nailing it and became hooked. Of all the instruments Julie plays, she says that playing bass in a band is the most fun thing ever! She's very happy to be the newest member of Hear Kitty Kitty and she's excited about all the things that the band has in store for the future.
