For years, Detroit has raised successful musicians, like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, and Eminem, but now they’re offering the music industry another sensation, 20-year-old aj. Raised in Sterling Heights, birth name Mark Nikollaj, he was born ready to entertain. Without hesitation, aj always enjoyed performing in front of a crowd, regardless of where he was. Whether it was with his family and friends, or in front of an audience, aj was—and still is—fearless. Just like the musicians previously mentioned, aj too has just as much soul, harmony, passion and edge.

What sets him apart? Despite the fact that he's one of the youngest, he's also one of the most unique, both in his music and style, collaborating R&B and Pop on a level that’s foreign to the industry. With the flow and delivery equivalent to Bone Thugs 'n' Harmony mixed with Craig David, as well as the vocal ability and an image like Justin Timberlake, aj is determined to compliment the Pop market by adding Urban influence. However, along with those three skills, follows another one, aj is a songwriter. Sometimes absent in music today, aj possesses the ability to take words and transform them into music notes, as a result, composing originality.

During his school years, aj performed for Talent Shows, and he would constantly practice by openly singing in front of colleagues. He's performed at clubs in Ann Arbor, MI, and has performed for Ohio State University. With the help of websites like Myspace and Facebook, aj had the opportunity to promote his music by giving viewers a sample of a couple songs he’s been working on for his upcoming album. Today, aj has already attracted a fan base of 10,000.

Currently aj, who is signed to HearTalent Records (www.heartalent.com), will be recording their whole album in New York City starting May 6. They’ll also be working alongside producers from Basic Productions and Grand Staff Productions. The album’s release date is set for the beginning of this fall.

The public is constantly awaiting hip, innovative music, and aj brings that. His mission is not just to exhibit his music, but to satisfy the public, the fans, productions, and the medium. Again, aj encompasses a package new to the music industry, and that is why he would be a great endeavor.
