The Beginning Peter Fryd is one of Scandinavias most prolific songwriters in the pop/rock genre. He began playing guitar during his teens, initially with various friends. His life changed in the mid 80s after getting introduced to Ejvind - Ytte - Poulsen through a common friend. In autumn 1988 Ytte found a bassist he hass been searching for in Jakob - Jake - Dam and they became the backbone in rhythm section in years to come.
The Ph5 time: It's a fact, that Ph5 had everything a good pop/rock band requires: 3 songwriters, a good rhythm arranger and a unique saxophone player. It took them just 6 month for them to reach the closest place to stardom you can get without getting there. The future of the band looked bright and exciting, but sometimes things doesn't go the way they could have.
Rising Reptiles: After Ph5 and Acid Sympnony Peter and Ytte went to Copenhagen and formed Rising Reptiles. Ytte dropped out, but Fryd continued in the Guns n Roses/The Cult inspired hardrock band. Despite the band members lived together and rehearsed intensively the success was out of reach. Though, Peters Wild Life was released a compilation cd called Byens Boern and got nationwide airplay. As the Danish music scene looked towards Seattle, Peter started writing a concept, based on ideas of Change, which led Fryd from hardrock into multi genre music.
Tide Philosophy: As Peter was completing the writing of The Concept of Change, he put once again up an alliance with Ytte, hoping to bring the chemistry from the early Ph5 days into new ways of thinking. After being rehearsing the concept with a band for a long time, Fryd could not see this working on stage and decides to record and put out a demo to radio stations. Unfortunately the result is turned out to be a disaster. Later Peter and Ytte record their 2nd demo cd, containing the hit Somewhere In The Light that goes no. 225 out of more than 1.600.000 songs on MP3.COM. Ytte and Fryd have now grown too much apart, that a further cooperation seems unlikely. Laddie & Peter Fryd As Ytte goes out of the door Peter puts Tide Philosophy on hold and starts writing rock songs again. Meanwhile Peter adds more guitar to Somewhere In The Light and it becomes a major hit on the internet with thousands of downloads.
Peter Fryd/Laddie:
First song written and recorded on 40 minutes is RocknRoll Stars. Under the band name Laddie, Peters friend, Pete Stockley lays the vocal on the track called Seasons. The song becomes Peters biggest hit to date. The song goes no. 6 on the Vitaminic chart and well as the most wanted freebie. A video for the song is also available.
The BOP:
How far can you come in 2 rehearsals? When things come together, you can get really far and that is the case with BOP. In June 2006 Ole Fryd had left Thailand, where he has been living with his wife Oat. One evening Ole, who's main instrument is bass, ask his brother Peter make a band....or he might get bored living in Denmark. Peter instantly called his working colleague Brian Fridahl - a highly rated drummer of the Danish underground - and BOP was formed. After the first rehearsal the the member of the newly formed band were ecstatic. They had created 4 new songs in just as many hours and the prolific cooperation, during the following rehearsal, continued. Shortly after Brian held a garden party and a live recording was made. Ole was the same week offered a civil job in Greenland, which he accepted. They met up once more make a final recording, which could stand as a memory of ""when things just come together"" The result was ""Seasons"". Brian and Peter got hold of the talented singer Stine Brown who put on a new vocal and re-wrote the lyrics and BOP's final recording became ""You Can't Seize the Day Before the Sun's Gone Down"". Brian and Peter desperately tried to find a suitable replacement for Ole, but it seemed more and more like the magic has gone. Finally it made no sense of continuing without the important 3rd member. But... Ole came back to Denmark for a short visit in April 2007 and did not hesitate to team up with Brian and Peter. 2 new songs was created and recorded in 2-3 hours. And of cause once again: Things just came together…!
The Future:
It seems quiet obvious, Peter will try to follow up the sudden success of The BOP. His own rocknroll solo career is likely to be turned into live performances, however it is unknown if it will happen. Regarding the Tide Philosophy Project, it is still unknown when or where it is going to see the light of day. All in all: It looks like Peter has found the right path and with 3 strings to play on the future certainly seems bright for Mr. Fryd.
